How HSB Visualz began?
A STORYTELLER WITH A VISION.
I remember the first time I used a camera was to record a short film for a media arts group project back in high school. I also took some still photos to use for the movie poster of the film. The concept behind the film was to use a cardboard box as the main element of the story in a creative and effective manner.
Our group created a cutout of a face and attached some writing to the back of the cardboard box. The writing read, “Boxer” in Japanese. The plan was to have this character, known as “Boxer,” be seen as an outcast by placing the box over his head. He would be caught in the midst of committing a forbidden crime, arrested and interrogated by detectives, and eventually escape custody and tie up the detectives in a grueling fight scene. As ridiculous as the idea may have sounded, our teacher was impressed by the final product. From crafting the concept to endless retakes and uncontrollable laughter to putting together the final touches, this project showcased our individual perspectives on life and culture. I realized that I enjoyed creating a relatable story out of a single object that seemingly no one could relate to at the beginning. This process is what got me interested in professional photography & videography.
